The second largest city in Egypt, Alexandria, known as "The Pearl of the Mediterranean it was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, Alexandria became the capital of Graeco-Roman Egypt.

Alexandria, is located on the Mediterranean coast, and has the second largest seaport of Egypt. It is also the second largest city in Egypt. The city with a water front of nearly 20KM. The eastern harbour with the sea front Corniche is the most central part.

The city is a beach front town, many of the beaches of Alexandria are private or attached to communities or hotels.

The best bargains from the local markets would be vegetables, fruits, desserts, food and animals. The markets sell every thing from old watches to fresh fruits and groceries.

Stanley bridge is a bridge over the sea and you can see the sea from both sides Several restaurants and cafes line the street around Stanley Bridge. Many people walk on the bridge to enjoy the view of the sea and the bay.

The Egyptian kitchen is renowned for its tasty dishes. Elegant restaurants in major hotels, and else where, offer delicious oriental selections such as Kofta which are ground meatballs, Kebab grilled meat, Mulukhia green soup, Baba Ghannoug tahini and eggplant, Tahina, Salad, Hamam Mahshi which is a stuffed pigeon, Mixed Green Salad, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Foul and Falafel cooked and fried beans, and Kushari rice and lentils mix.

The Royal Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt, was once the largest library in the world. The ancient library was founded in early 3rd century BC. The Library seems to have been maintained and continued in existence until its contents were largely lost during the taking of the city by the Emperor Aurelian in 270 to 275, it can hold as much as 8 million books, but so far there are only a few hundred thousand volumes in the library. The library was opened in 2002.

The island of Pharaohs was a major port having two huge harbours. The Fort was built in the 1480's by Sultan Qaitbey, on the site of Alexandria's ancient lighthouse.

The Anfushi Tombs in Alexandria are limestone tombs which can be traced to 250 B.C. At the tombs you will find decors of pictures of Egyptian gods, examples from regular living and graffiti of the ancient period in Anfushi Tombs in Alexandria. These tombs are painted as well so that they can be given the looks of alabaster and marble materials.
